Words for the Week from Jodi and Brenda ~ 10/8/07
“That’s water under the bridge.”
We will be using this expression as we put the NECAP tests behind us this week. This experience can be frustrating and you guys (the kids) were real troopers. Brenda and I look forward to being back in the classroom together and “diving in” to our regular program.
This Wednesday, we will begin a series of 6 sessions with Paul Hoake who teaches problem-solving through activity-based experiences. The skills he teaches are ones that can be applied to reading, math, friendship and life!
Another part of our social curriculum is The No-Fault Classroom. There is a parent piece to it that you may choose to try. “Parenting From the Heart” classes are offered for parents and will be similar to what we do in school. Having the same strategies and language may help kids and adults work together peacefully. The P&F Meeting, postponed for next Monday, at 6:30 will offer you an overview of the classes.
Please notice the “Water in our Homes” maps in the front hall!
This is our last week of poetry class until the spring. We will revisit the poems later and choose one for Paper feelings in the winter at which point we will return the poems to you.
