The Junior High is growing! Welcome back Mathew, we are so happy to have you join our class. Next week we will welcome Nana Andres From Denmark who will be with us until Christmas. In Social Studies we are wrapping up our work on the American Revolution and moving on to our study of government and contemporary politics. Math and Literature groups continue and students are working on developing a character for a narrative. In science we are experimenting with thermodynamics. On Monday next week we will begin to construct “earth ovens” outside with goal of actually baking bread! On Wednesday we will be visiting the Searsberg wind farm. We will be out of school between 11:00 – 1:30

What an amazing climb we had up Mansfield last week! I am sure you have heard about the cliffs, the cold, the smoky fire, and perhaps the comradery, the bravery, and the laughter as well. You all should be very proud of your children as the faced difficulties large and small with self discipline , persistence, and a sense of humor. This week we turn back to the more traditional academic disciplines but the mountain experience will enrich all that we do.

Thank-you all for joining us for parent night & thank-you, all of you, who brought in food and fruit for the fair. Monday we will be talking to the students about the climb up Mansfield. This is a great trip; although the mountain is higher than Chocorua it is not as steep a scramble. A good percentage of the walk is above tree line so there are really nice views. Don’t hesitate to call either of us if you have any questions. At this point it looks as if Kate Fleming & Jen Carr will be joining us for the climb. We will take care of the food except dessert. If you can bake cookies or brownies for the hike up and in camp later, that would be great.
