Thanks for the Books!
A big thank you to Jen Carr and her lovely family for the large donation of wonderful kids books for the library. I’ve hardly made may way through the boxes yet, but I can tell the kids are going to really appreciate this donation, such wonderful books, thanks Jen!
And thank you also to Adaylia’s family who sent a perfect gift to the library from Amazon this week - another installment of everyone’s favorite pigeon! Just this week the Primary has been drawing amazing versions of Mo Willem’s funny bird, and we’d enjoyed this surprise gift on Wednesday.
Thanks everyone for the books,

Give a Gift Honoring Your Child
The next time you’re looking for a birthday or holiday gift for your child, consider donating a book to the school library in your child’s name. I’ll happily honor them with a bookplate on the inside of the book, a notice in Friday Notes and on the website, and the book will be prominently displayed in the library. Your child can even be the first to read it! If you need suggestions, you can take a look at our Wishlist on Amazon (most titles on the wishlist are requests from the students) or email pam at marlboroschool.net
Happy Reading!

New Books in the Library
It’s been a huge thrill seeing how excited the children have been to check out the new books in the library. In an effort to share their enthusiasm, I aim to let you know on an occasional basis about some of our new holdings via Friday Notes. Here are some new picture books (for everyone!) to check out next time you’re in the library…
…. If The Seven Silly Eaters is a big hit at your house (like mine), you’ll want to check out A Couple of Boys have the Best Week Ever by 7 Eaters and Clementine illustrator Marla Frazee. This story of two best friends on summer vacation had me wondering if maybe she wasn’t spying on my own family this summer. Jon Scieszka fans will want to read Cowboy & Octopus, a hilarious group of very short stories about two strangely-matched pals.
Budding comedians who are just learning to read should check out Mo Willem’s There is a Bird on Your Head! for a belly laugh. A collection of three wild stories by the prolific Cornelia Funke called A princess, a pirate, and one wild brother would be a special treat for girls who like to swing from the rigging and practice their jousting. Arachnologists with a funny bone will enjoy Aaaarrgghh! Spider! by Lydia Monks and just about everyone will chuckle at the high jinks of Chester, a very bossy cat, by Melanie Watt (author of the perennial favorite, Scaredy Squirrel).
