P&F Extends a Huge Appreciation
to all the MES families for your participation.
As I begin to type the end of year P&F Communication I am reminded of how fortunate we all are to be a part of the MES community of Parents and Friends. We are all so stretched with our families, work and general busy schedules it is easy to feel like we just can’t possibly volunteer to do one more thing. But as I begin to think of all the individuals that have participated this past year I am astounded by all that each of you have contributed – and that includes EVERYONE!! From those who were on a committee, created a logo, attended a meeting, room parents, wrote an appreciation or sent in food for the staff week, organized the fundraiser’s or sent in orders. It’s all important – THANKS!!
Here is how our energy and resources were used this 2010-2011 year:

P& F Corner
The Marlboro School Social Climate includes a focus on building all school community. We do this in many ways. All students play together on the playground, sing together at All School Sing, and celebrate each other during Appreciations. Older and younger classes are paired up for Buddy Reading. Seventh graders serve as kindergarten interns for a week – and, after that week, you can hear the little ones call out, “Hi, Roshika! Hi, Ben!”
Winter Workshops provide another opportunity for building community. This year’s groups will be multiage, each group including students from all grade levels. We will pair up youngers and olders so that the older students can help their “buddies” with the fun activities. Once workshops start in January, check in with your child to see how it’s going.
Next P&F Meeting: Monday January 10th, 2211 MES Library – 7pm

Marlboro School Social Climate
At your recent conference you received the Marlboro School Handbook and below is an excerpt from the Social Climate portion.
Marlboro School Social Climate
We seek a culture of respect and kindness that promotes the development of social and civic responsibility in all students.
There is consistency and commonality of mission. And there is the flexibility to respond to students as individuals and in a way that takes into account their needs and teachers’ styles.
This culture is defined by physical and emotional safety with
Respect Appreciation
Civility Kindness
Thoughtfulness Tolerance
Inclusion
A sense of belonging
A sense of contributing
_________________________________________________________
Let’s dialogue with our kids and possibly ask some of the following questions:
“How are we respectful of each other at school? At home?”
“How do you include others at school?”
Additional copies of the Handbook are on the table in the MES hallway located outside of the offices.

familiar and new faces.
