Please join me in congratulating the Marlboro Spelling Bee Team, Willow, Roxanne, Phoenix, Josh, and Waylund. These spellers met with me over several weeks to prepare for the District Spelling Bee. Last Thursday we went to Newbrook Elementary to compete against Wardsboro, Dover, Townshend, Jamaica, and Newbrook. We had some brilliant moments, such as Willow spelling her bonus word, malformation, for 4 points! Roxanne getting all of her regular round words correct – radiator, suggestion, accustomed, buffalo, different, grasshopper, parachute, and management; Josh, Waylund, and Phoenix spelling century, application, scientist, obtained, and skiing correctly. Despite our best efforts, Newbrook once again won, but we’ll be back next year!
I hope you have the Principal Search and Act 46 Update meeting on your calendar. Tuesday, October 25, 7pm. Please join us, give your input, and catch up on the latest.
Kathy Pell has served Marlboro School as our Food Program Manager for the past 5 years – and she has served us very well. With great regret I inform you that she has accepted a position at the Gathering Place in the role of social worker, her professional field. When Kathy started here, we only served one meal a day. She grew the program to a full-time job serving four delicious meals a day. We will miss her greatly. Kathy’s last day will be October 28 and she has offered to help with the transition to a new person as much as is needed. Please join me in wishing Kathy well in her new adventure and thanking her for her wonderful work here.
Of course, this means we are looking for a new Food Program Manager. Please spread the word and contact me with any names we should pursue. A complete job description and advertisement will be on the website soon.
Enjoy the 3 day weekend. For those of you who have conferences on Friday, enjoy those as well.
