Remember the MES Holiday Event on Saturday, December 3 – tomorrow! – from 10-12. There will be craft making for the kids, an author visit and special book giveaway for parents, and storytelling for all. Hope to see you for this fun event sponsored by CLiF and P&F.
On a sadder note, Leigh Madalinski is leaving us as site coordinator for the Lafter program! Leigh’s husband has been offered his dream job in Burlington so they will be moving. Leigh’s last day at school will be December 15. Please join me in thanking her for a job well done. She’s brought in a great variety of high quality activities and offered our students a safe and fun place to be after school. Thank you, Leigh, and all the best as you take on your next adventure!
Basketball practices for 3rd-6th grade have started. Games will begin in January. At this point we do not have enough players for two teams – a 3rd-4th and 5th-6th. We will have one 3rd-6th grade team. If your child is thinking about playing but you haven’t committed yet, please encourage him/her and call me or send me an email. We’d love to have more players!
Ellen and I are attending the Coalition of Essential Schools Fall Forum. The Coalition is made up of schools all over the country who believe in child centered, experiencial education. Yesterday we visited a very interesting K-8 school in the middle of Providence, RI. It has a student body of 560 of whom 85% are Latino. It was inspiring to see kids loving their school and talking and thinking about what they are learning. We always learn so much at these conferences!
I hope you have your calendar marked for the Winter Concert. All the students will be performing on Wednesday, December 14, 6:30pm at the Whittemore Theater on the Marlboro College campus. ~ Francie
