Let’s all hope for good weather next Tuesday! The Winter Instrumental Concert is rescheduled for Tuesday, 6:30pm.
Welcome to Deborah Ayer, our new L’After Site Coordinator. Deborah comes to us with lots of experience working with children. She’s a licensed teacher and has worked as a long term sub in several schools. She’s excited to land here in a permanent position and we’re excited to have her. She can be contacted at l’firstname.lastname@example.org.
It’s all about the Year of the Book with three major events this week and next. Karen Hesse, author of many outstanding books for adolescents including Witness, met with Junior High students to discuss this book and to talk about the process she goes through when she’s writing a book. The students were well prepared with questions and comments and they had a lively conversation.
Today we have a book give away with each student in the school selecting two books to add to their home libraries. I hope you enjoy reading them with your younger readers and hearing all about them from older readers.
Next week author Marty Kelley will be here for three days teaching writing workshops to every class. Rochelle has many of his books in the library. You are welcome to stop by to check out his books. They are full of whacky humor.
Betty Young, our district math coach, is in residence at Marlboro this week and part of next. She is working with teachers and students to improve math instruction and math skills. Thanks, Betty!
As we get closer to Town Meeting day, March 7, and the vote on the merger with Dover and Wardsboro, I want to remind you of ways in which you can find out more information about this important issue. There will be another meeting with the Merger Study Committee and the Alternative Structure Committee on Monday, February 13 at 6:30. You can also go to http://wcsu-committee.blogspot.com/ where there are links to videos of earlier meetings in Marlboro, Wardsboro, and Dover. School board members Doug Korb, Lauren Poster, and Dan MacArthur testified to the House and Senate Education Committees in Montpelier and the Reformer reported on that at http://brattlebororeformer.vt.newsmemory.com/?selDate=20170127
Have a great weekend! ~ Francie
