Note from Francie 9/2/16

It was wonderful to see so many of you at the New Year’s Eve BBQ. Heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who jumped in to plan, set up, serve, cook, and clean up. Jess Weitz, our CLiF Year of the Book coordinator took the lead. The CliF Read to Me! Contract and the Family Schedule of CLiF events are attached. Remember, if 80% of our families sign and return the contract, we will have a special Valentine’s event including an author visit, cocoa, and cookies.

We are off and running and looking forward to welcoming the Kindergartners onTuesday, September 6. All School Sing has shifted to Mondays at 8:30. Please join us as we start the week with this community gathering. At the first Sing on September 12we will launch the Year of the Book with students. This will include an author visit and the first book give away.

Great news about the Marlboro Fair on Saturday, September 17! The Marlboro Alliance will pay the entrance fee of any MES student who is either working at the Fair or exhibiting in any of the tents. Please see the note later on for more information.

Thank you for returning your Home-School Compacts. It’s great to start the year knowing that parents are supporting us wholeheartedly.

Please see below for the date of your child’s Parent Night. They’re starting next week. These meetings give you a good sense of your child’s classroom – the teacher, the curriculum, the routines, and the fun!

Once again the River Valley Credit Union is offering a School Savings program to Marlboro students. Please see the information below.

Stay up to date on Act 46 and School Board activity! Notes and agendas are posted at school, at the Town Office, and on our website. Please keep yourself informed about this important work as it will have a great impact on the future of Marlboro School.

Parent Coffees with Francie will start on September 12, right after Sing. If you’re able to stay, it’s a great time for informal conversation and updates on what’s going on at school. I hope you can make it! And, of course, I am always available to meet with you. Just call or email (fmarbury@marlboroschool.net) to find a good time.
