Note from Francie, Dec. 7, 2007
Have you checked out the January Healthy Snack menu? I can’t wait for the scent of those blueberry muffins to waft through the halls of the school. Not only has Celena been busy planning nutritious and tasty meals, she’s also been cleaning out the kitchen shelves and cabinets and creating a healthy environment for preparing these meals. As you look at the information attached, please consider applying for the free or reduced price snack. This is a new program at Marlboro School and it’s one that can benefit the school as well as your children. Think of it this way…federal tax dollars, paid by all of us, reimburse the school for these free and reduced price meals. We’ve already sent this money to the government and now we’re getting it back as the school receives a subsidy in addition to what you pay. Please help us to take advantage of this.
Welcome to Devin in Jodi’s class. Devin is already one of the gang. Look for him on the basketball court with the 3rd-4th grade team.
Congratulations to Mandy in Junior High. She’s currently performing in the New England Youth Theatre’s production of Guys and Dolls. The show runs through next weekend.
The new kiln is in place in the Art Room down under the Outback. Today you’ll receive a Bears in the Valley book along with Friday Notes.
It was the money bid for , the Marlboro bear, added to a share of the proceeds from the auction of the big Bears that allowed us to purchase the kiln that will be put to good use soon as your children participate in Winter Workshops. Thanks to Lauren, our art teacher, for making this happen.
At All School Sing today Emma, Audrey, Charlotte, Ferne, and Lloyd will receive season passes to Mt. Snow as part of the Aiming for Excellence program which recognizes junior high students with outstanding academic performance. Congratulations to these students!
Last Friday Mr. Earle Cavanagh of the Brattleboro Elks Club joined us for Sing and then went to Jodi’s room to present dictionaries to the third graders. Thank you to Mr. Cavanagh and the Elks for providing this great resource. I’m sure the kids will put these dictionaries to good use – especially when they arrive in David’s room and have the notorious weekly “vocab test”.
The Primary Class had decorated and distributed boxes all over the school for the collection of food for the Deerfield Valley Food Pantry. Next Thursday they’ll take what they’ve collected to the Food Pantry and help to create packages of food for those in need. Please send in donations with your child!
